Enhancing Safety at Road Traffic Incidents – Fast Roads, Collisions and Enforcement Activity
This course is aimed at officers who respond to traffic incidents to ensure that safe working practices are followed.
This five day course is aimed at traffic officers who have the responsibility of responding to traffic incidents and have to work in the dangerous environment of a road or highway.
Held at a fully appointed and convenient location, this course looks at safe working practices, dealing effectively with the public as well as developing an awareness of dangerous substances carried on the road network and how to deal with an incident involving hazardous materials.
Aims and Objectives
The course will provide students with enhanced skills and ability when dealing with road traffic accidents
At the end of the course the student/participant will be able to:
- State the principles of traffic safety – how to keep yourself safe whilst dealing with traffic incidents
- Show how to use communication skills whilst dealing with the public
- Demonstrate how to safely work on a fast road
- Demonstrate safety procedures when dealing with debris and hazardous materials in the carriageway

Rules and procedures for traffic safety
The role of the Traffic Police in Abu Dhabi
The safe stopping of vehicles
Personal safety when working on fast roads and the principles of lane closures
Hard shoulder working
Dealing with hazardous goods
The use of technology in road policing and effective communications
